Debut of Alam Ara #movie in #Indian #Cinema

March 14, 1931 was the day when first Indian movie with sound was released. You got us right, Alam Ara was first Indian Cinema to debut with sound in Bollywood industry. It was directed by Ardeshir Irani


The film was inspired by the first movie version of Jerome Kern's Show Boat (1929), released by Universal Pictures.

On a serious note, this film's original print is not available due to fire at National Film Archive of India, Pune, in year 2003.
